Substitute for metal lamp shade to fit a standard chimney on a hurricane lamp

I painted the base of a hurricane lamp that also had a pattern for a metal lamp shade that fit on a hurricane lamp chimney. The metal shade is no longer available. I wondered if anyone had a source for these shades or if they could recommend a paper that would be tough enough to let me apply the pattern and glue the edge so it took on the shape of the metal shade. Would gesso allow me to paint the paper but still be pliable enough for me to bend it into the required shape? If so what paper would be best?
