restoring a metal tole painted tray with rust spots
by Vicki Chelf
The tray has 3 or 4 rust spots smaller than a dime. The tray is antique. What I need to know is how to go about getting rid of the rust and what kind of paint to use to touch it up. Thank you
Cheryl here from Your Decorative Painting Resource... great question!
If the tray is an antique I would take it in to a professional for restoration. I don't mess around with antiques. Done by an amateur, restorative work will diminish the value of the antiquated item.
Contact the Society of Decorative Painters for information on where to have your tray properly tended to... http://www.decorativepainters.org/index.php
Hope this helps!
