Can I Lacquer of pebeo vitrail paint?

by Karen Johnston

I am wondering can I lacquer over vitrail pebeo glass paint to protect the colours, I heard I should use Uv varnish but it’s not something I can get easily but I already have a good quality spray lacquer - used to spray on a custom printed metal tin to then protect the inkjet printing. That worked great, but will it work or destroy pebeo vitrail glass paint!

Thanks

Lacquer on Vitrail
by: Cheryl

Vitrail paints are intended for painting on glass, acetate, and Plexiglas.

This paint is intended for decorative purposes and not for high usage and daily handling. You can hand wash your painted projects but definitely don't soak them.

If you want to do a test piece, by all means go ahead. I don't think the two products will be compatible. But it can't hurt to do a test run! Have fun and let me know how it turns out.

Than’ you for Posting this, I’ve since tried it and it’s perfect
by: KaTyJs

Hi, I finally took a chance and tried it we tried a spray one clear vinyl but though it worked it had a rubbery texture and peeled off easily, so no good. Then We tired Plasti-kote 1138 400ml Super Clear and it is perfect, used multiple coats and got a glass clear Finnish and it’s protected the vitrail glass paint and makes the colour pop! It has been excellent. I can’t add a photo here sadly or I would show you the end result.

Thank you again
