Safe paint for a metal highchair tray

I have a 50's era metal highchair that I need to repaint. What is the safest paint to use on the tray?

Safe for what? Will you be using it for a toddler to eat from? Or do you plan to use it for decorative purposes and you want the paint to be safe from UV rays or outdoor elements?

There are many metal paint manufacturers. For safety sake, contact the manufacturer directly. They will have fact sheets about their products that will be of value to you.
