Restoring tole tray

by Vicki Chelf
(Sarasota, FL)

I wrote last week, but didn't have a photo. I do not want to do a perfect restoration, just match background color and get rid of rust and would like some tips. I am posting the photo this time.

Thank you,

Vicki

Hi Vicki,
Cheryl here.... sand the rusted areas and then spray on a clear rust primer. Then find an acrylic paint that matches the background. You may need to mix some colors together to get it just right. Keep in mind that the paint will dry to a slightly darker shade than when wet. I hope this helps. If the tray is valuable, a professional restoration would be in order. I hope this is helpful.
