Clear top coat for glass painting

by Joy
(Valley Lee, MD)

I have been painting glass for 5 years, the paint I use must be baked to be permanent. I was recently told about a clear gloss glaze you can paint on your glass and it seals your painting and is dishwasher safe. She did not tell me the brand name, do you happen to know of this product. I would appreciate any help
Thank you
Joy

Clear Top Coat for Glass

Hi Joy,
Cheryl here from YDPR....
Your friend is likely referring to Delta's PermEnamel Glaze.

It's used as a protective top coat for PermEnamel Paint. Dishwasher safe and microwave and oven safe to 350F degrees. Not to be used on surfaces where food or lips will come into contact.
I've not used it myself so I can't rate it.

Be sure to use PermEnamels by Delta if you're going to use the Delta PermEnamel Glaze.

Let us know how it goes.

Clean TOP COAT for Glass

I also use a clear top coat for glass. Folk Art has a clear Medium for glass. It is labeled as Folk Art Enamel Clear Medium (transparent). This can be used over Folk Art Paints and also baked. Do not mix Folk Art products in a project with another brand from a competitor company, they don't always react favorable with each other.
Hope this helps!
