Paint for ceramics?

by Rose
(Sacramento CA)

I have several ceramic items already sanded and fired, but need to know what kind of paint to use. Also, does a coat of sealer or something like it go on in the final preparation. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi Rose,
Cheryl here... will the ceramics be fired again? If so you will need to use paints specifically made for ceramics.
If you want to paint on the bisque items, you will need to seal them first because they will be very porous. Use an all purpose sealer. Then choose acrylic paints that are identified as multi surface paints. DecoArt and Martha Stewart make such paints. I hope this helps.
