Using gloss enamel and acrylic paints on metal or glass

by Sheila Ferguson
(Cape Town South Africa)

Good morning,
I had some old tarnished silver plated items, that I have prepared and painted with Rustoleum all in one spray paint. I am mow painting designs on them in Gloss enamel Do I also cure them in the oven?

Can I also use the DecoArt Acrylic, if I don't have the colour I want in the Gloss enamel?

It says it can be painted on metal, but can it also be used on glass?
Have a good day. Sheila

Using gloss enamel and acrylic paints on metal or glass

Hi Sheila,
I don't know how Rustoleum will react to being cured in the oven. Contact Rustoleum for more information as there may be a health hazard I'm not familiar with.

The Gloss Enamels are fine for heat setting. If they are not heat cured the enamels won't be stable and will come off.

No you can't swap out regular acrylics for Gloss Enamels.

Gloss enamels perform very nicely on glass.
