I love painting on slate!!! Just wash the shingles in hot soapy water, rinse and wipe down with rubbing alcohol to be sure they are very clean.

Good quality acrylic paint adheres very well to slate without you having to gesso or seal it. When you're done with the painting, varnish to protect your work.
