Peppers in Blue

This is an acrylic painting done using only a palette knife. I was challenged to put my brushes down and to only use a palette knife. Oh, it was so much fun.

It`s always scary but ultimately rewarding to step outside our comfort zone and to just play. So grab some fruit or veggies, place them in front of you. Grab your paints and a palette knife and paint what you see. Don`t try to be perfect. It`s the gestural marks that give the painting energy.

This painting was done on a 12 x 12 gallery wrap canvas. It is sold.

Happy!
by: Cheryl

Hi Judy,
I like to use Golden Acrylics in both Heavy Body and Fluids. For this painting I used the heavy body.

I will be doing mixed media and abstract online classes, including fun stuff with a palette knife.

Thanks so much for your suggestion. Like I said, this website is all about my visitors. So if you want something, ask me and I'll do my best to deliver!

This is so vibrant and just leaps out at you from the canvas. It definitely shouts "happy" Did you use a heavy body acrylic? How about some instruction for us devotees of your site on this method?
