Paper and acrylic paints
by: Cheryl

Hi Linda,
I work in a variety of sketchbooks and I prepare the paper with a coat of gesso first. Gesso is a primer usually applied to a canvas. However it's awesome for making the pages less absorbent.
You can paint in a mixed media journal or inexpensive sketchbooks from discount stores. Once gesso'd any paper will be a good surface to practice on.
