Painting an outdoor glass patio table

by Lisa
(Olney, MD)

Hi there,

I wanted to redo our outdoor glass patio table so I purchased Plaid Gallery Glass products and Deco Art glass stain. I have a couple questions regarding this: 1. should I paint the underside of the table or the top? 2. If the table is outdoors will the paint hold up? 3. Would you recommend a sealant or comparable product to protect the paint from washing off in the elements?

Your assistance would be so much appreciated!!!

Much thanks and gratitude,
Lisa Butcher

Painting an outdoor patio glass table

Hello Lisa,
the Plaid Gallery Glass is not permanent on glass but it is permanent on styrene and plexiglass. So don't use it for this project.

The DecoArt Glass Stains are meant to be used inside the Glass Leading to contain the stain. Because of this you should do your painting on the underside of the table. It will be cured after 48 hours and will not need a sealant.

I have not experimented with painting the underside of an outdoor table so can't really comment on how durable this will be. You may want to contact DecoArt directly.

Good luck with this!
